Beginning Band Brass Classes:
The following is a sample 20 minute practice session.
5 Min.
Begin each practice with the "Notes In Review" Warm up found at the top of page 6.  Play each note four beats, then move to the next note.  When you get to the bottom, come back up.  You can do this in whole notes, half notes, and then quarter notes.
Remember, keep the air moving fast and steady.
10 Min.
Practice the lines we have played in class over the last two days.  Keep a steady tempo.  (Use the metronome link to the right)  When you get to a passage that doesn't sound good, stop.  Play just the few notes that aren't good 5 or 6 times slowly.  Then, try the entire line again.  If it's better, go on.  If not, do the routine again.
Remember, "perfect practice makes perfect.  Bad practice makes bad.  So practice right."
5 Min.
Play something you enjoy.  Later as you have more lines or songs this will be fun.  Remember to have fun.  The lines in the book are designed to give you the skills to play more stuff.  When you have those skills you will have a good time buying books for your instrument that has music you like from movies, shows, etc.
